Until February 2010, Scotlund Haisley was Director of Emergency Services with HSUS, running the organization's most high-profile "animal rescue team." In this position, he oversaw the HSUS team that responds to natural disasters. He was also known for practicing SWAT-team-like tactics in HSUS-sanctioned raids of dog breeders.
Before joining HSUS in January 2008, for seven years he led the Washington (D.C.) Animal Rescue League, which took in several of the animals used for illegal dogfighting by football player Michael Vick.
In June 2010, In Defense of Animals (IDA) announced Haisley as its new president.
