I’m curious to know if the section of the LA Times entitled “L.A. Unleashed” is an editorial made possible by the newspaper or if this is really a paid “commentary” funded by the H$U$. If this an editorial made possible by the newspaper to discuss “all things animal in Southern California and beyond”, when and how do they plan to offer a person, with an opposing view to the animal rights agenda being printed for the H$U$, equal exposure and opportunity to provide a differing perspective on the issues brought up?
If this is section is basically a paid commentary funded by the H$U$, then there is no recourse for real comment and discussion. I think someone should challenge the newspaper to provide equal opportunity to respond and see what happens.
When trying to find what funding is incoming and outgoing, it is very difficult to link contributions from other supporting groups and individuals because they can hide behind the Tides Foundation, essentially a funding “clearinghouse” so donations can remain anonymous. I think there needs to be legislation to change this system. Transparency of financial support for non-profits, political campaigns and I believe, special interest goups should be open for public review. How can this be brought to light? We have had Sierra Club members in our area providing support for a community group fighting CAFOs. When looking at their budget and how much money is received through Tides, I have to suspect much of their funding is from AR industry. They won’t admit they have an AR agenda though. They will spend 100Ks a year supporting anti-CAFO activities, but nothing to assist in developing technology to improve sustainability (air quality from facilities, water and energy conservation and protection, etc) in the animal ag sector. There are other entities that are the same and hide behind supporters funneling money through Tides.

One of the main things that I don’t understand, is why the U$H$ and PeTA have not been audited to show where and what their money is being spent on and if it is a big enough portion to allow them to retain their 501-c-3 (non profit) status! They don’t own or operate shelters, and actually charge shelters to come in and do consultations! Follow the money trail! Humane Watch and Consumer freedom.com are a wealth of information and will link you so you can go and read for yourself who has said what and who has done anything for or against the animals. Animal rights and Animal welfare are two different things, and should never get mixed up! Do you want a world where your children can never own a pet? You can’t eat eggs? Where your 4th and 14th amendment rights are just walked upon by (“Law enforcement want to bee’s?”) Don’t worry, they will take or erode your 2nd amendment first so you will know it’s getting ready to happen! I have a service animal, have any of them ever read the ADA? I doubt it.
We are a republic, made up of many atomists states, of which some have already put the federal Government on notice that their constitutions allow them to leave the US and go out on their own, and not put up with the Governments lame games. The Governors are in charge of their National Guards, and the feds have to get permission to use the Guards from the Governors. We live in bad times, buy silver and gold coins, and lead to reload your ammo.
