Ohioans for Humane Farms = HSUS

Just in case no one else is keeping score:

According to the Ohio Secretary of State, 96.15 percent of the money collected by "Ohioans For Humane Farms" has come from the Humane Society of the United States.

$1,663,301.83  Contributions from HSUS
$1,729,954.75  Total Contributions

We'll update this from time to time, but this whole "grassroots" Ohio operation sure looks like an HSUS field office in disguise.

Given the funding sources of the Ohioans for Humane Farms organization, it appears there are not many Ohioans who wanted to see this ballot initiative succeed.  As a result, not only are out of state funds being used to promote this initiative, but out of state people are being used to collect the signatures.

It seems every day there are new opportunities to expose the “underhanded” tactics of the H$U$.  The funding of the Ohioans for Humane Farms organization is just another example.  I am surprised it has taken this long for the truth about the intentions of the H$U$ to finally come out.  Keep up the good work!

I tried a few months ago to get this same info from Paul Shapiro and he gave me the run around. Thanks for getting this info out so that the real truth about Ohioans for Humane Farms can be spread around.  It will be wonderful to hear the truth for once.

And HSUS will turn around and claim that the money doesn’t count as lobbying.  Wow.

I am not surprised that there would be a gang of indifferent people to the suffering of farm animals.  I have been a working animal activist and environmentalist for nearly 15 years and if I mention anything about this people just look bored. They are just living in their own little circle of a few friends and activities. It “upsets” them to hear about a cruilty situation and their hand never goes into their wallet.Animal organizations put out some great magazines, I have to sneak them into doctor’s offices emergency rooms, health clubs, etc.  I have actually been insulted doing this, even vet’s do not want them, think about that? I think the compassion for farm animals has not improved at all, I grieve about this, people think I am odd because I am a vegetarian.I laugh about it because I am healthier than they are.

Josephine, maybe the delivery causes their look of boredom.  The overbearing zealot approach turns people off, no matter what the topic.  In one paragraph I got the impression that you’re the only person who cares and the rest of us are just insensitive clods.  That does not win people over to your way of thinking.
