Barbara Schmitz

 Barbara Schmitz is a lawyer and HSUS's Missouri State Director, overseeing the organization's lobbying and other legislative activity in that state. She is also the campaign manager for Missourians for the Protection of Dogs, the organization behind Missouri's 2010 "Proposition B" ballot fight.

From 2004 to 2009, Schmitz lobbied for legislation on behalf of Born Free USA (later known as the Animal Protection Institute), focusing on state laws that regulate pet shops and animals caught in traps.

Schmitz received her degree from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1993.
