Send HSUS a Valentine Today

Vick_PacelleOn its website, the C-minus-rated group Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), which is in federal court defending against illegal witness payment and bribery accusations, is asking people for testimonials of why they are humane heroes. This is quite ironic for a group whose CEO Wayne Pacelle has said “I don’t love animals or think they are cute” and “I don’t want to see another cat or dog born.”

It appears dozens of people have gotten the joke, however. There are many comments exposing HSUS for what it is: A radical, anti-farmer, wasteful-spending, PETA-like group. Please add your own comment—while HSUS still allows free dialogue.

Meanwhile, here are our favorites so far:

Beth (Front Royal, VA) is a hero for animals because:
“Several times a year, I volunteer for a feral cat spay/neuter program at my local SPCA. Since 2008, we have S/N over 2,000 feral cats. The program is run strictly on donations an grants, with absolutely no cost to the people seeking our aid. How has HSUS helped? They haven’t. Not a dime. The SPCA used to have have an HSUS banner, it is now gone. If you truly want to help animals, donate locally.”

Janet (Ceylon, MN) is a hero for animals because:
“I help animals by donating to my local animal shelter where I know the money goes to actually helping pets and not some political agenda like the HSUS.”

Judy (Brookfield, WI) is a hero for animals because:
“I help animals by not supporting HSUS and spreading THAT message to as many as I can. Nice try, though.”

beca is a hero for animals because:
“I help animals because I DO NOT support the HSUS. The truth is that the HSUS does not operate or have direct control over any animal shelter and is not affiliated with any local humane societies. This group’s values and actions are tilted toward eliminating humans’ use of animals entirely, including ending lifesaving biomedical research on animals, funding anti-breeding campaigns, and reducing society’s consumption of meat and egg products. The HSUS scams thousands of dollars from an unsuspecting public using their massive media events, attention-grabbing legislative proposals and Hollywood spokesmen. The HSUS misrepresents itself and takes advantage of every single “crisis” issue it can find to try to profit from it. Its main activities are comprised of promoting laws to restrict use/ownership, propaganda in support of such laws, and fundraising/self-promotional actions. The HSUS is simply a political lobbying group that works to destroy the human/animal bond.”

Bonnie (Glenwood, MO) is a hero for animals because:
“I donate to my local shelter, HSUS spends too much money on their high salaries, they lobby for anything they feel can stop the breeding of animals, they would like everyone to become vegetarians. They are a very deceitful organization, Please do not donate to them, instead give to your own local shelters..HSUS does nothing to help them!!”

Pablo is a hero for animals because:
“HSUS should spend its money actually helping animals and shelters rather than for paying big salaries and false PR campaigns.”

Shara is a hero for animals because:
“I help animals by helping them personally rather than donating to a sham organization.”

Kimberly (Chattanooga, TN) is a hero for animals because:
“I help animals by spreading the word that HSUS would end the suffering of pets by eliminating them. ”

Rachel (Lakefield, MN) is a hero for animals because:
“If you want to help animals, one of the most worthless things you can do is donate to H$U$. They spend almost nothing helping any animal at all. It is great if you want to give to a charity, but do your homework and choose somewhere deserving of your hard-earned money.”

Char Anne (Wauwatosa, WI) is a hero for animals because:
“Because HSUS is NOT a hero for animals. Their goal is the extinction of domestic animals of ALL kinds, including your pets. The CEO, Wayne Pacelle said this to author Ted Kerasote: “I don’t have a hands-on fondness for animals. I did not grow up bonded to any particular nonhuman animal. I like them and I pet them and I’m kind to them, but there’s no special bond between me and other animals.” Although Pacelle would like to bury this, and other enlightening statements, they are still out there, and I hope people realize that this quote reveals who Pacelle IS at his core. A leopard can’t change his spots. HSUS promotes a vegan lifestyle, and uses lobbying and laws, misinformation, scare tactics, to push through laws that incrementally make our time-honored partnerships with animals more expensive and burdensome, even illegal. Be kind to animals, wild and domestic, they are OUR responsibility, our partners, part of the cycle of life on earth. Don’t give a penny to HSUS, give – and WORK – locally. ”

judy (Summerfield, FL) is a hero for animals because:
“I strongly encourage friends to donate to their local shelters and not waste a penny giving it to H$U$ as they give only 1% to help animals. The rest of your money goes to salaries and their propaganda. Their ultimate goal is to have no HUMAN / ANIMAL contact. Any money given to the H$U$ is used to ultimately do away with all animal contact including our pets and farm animals. “

Tell that jackass we don’t need him or that slimebag Vick. No wonder money doesn’t find its way to helping animals. I don’t support them for that reason. I donate to local groups where I know it will help. Kick his ass out and get someone who DOES care.

I left a sweet valentine for them lol it was long and heartfelt too ;p

I tell people to keep their donations for animal charity local and don’t bother with HSUS as they don’t even have a shelter!

HSUS is lead by someone who has stated, “I don’t have a hands-on fondness for animals…To this day I don’t feel
bonded to any non-human animal. I like them and I pet them and I’m kind
to them, but there’s no special bond between me and other animals”, and when asked if he envisioned a future without pets, “If I had my personal
view, perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don’t want to see
another dog or cat born”, AND “We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of
livestock produced through selective breeding. . One generation and out.
We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are
creations of human selective breeding,” AND said, of Michael Vick: ” he would make a good pet owner and thus should be given the opportunity.”
HSUS employs people who have said, “My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture”, who has a lengthy association with a known domestic terrorist group, who demanded the deaths of Michael Vick’s dogs, who succeeded in getting all of Wildside Kennel’s dogs, including nursing puppies, killed, along with several other Pit Bull Terrier breeders’ dogs. HSUS has orchestrated the demonizing of large snakes and other reptiles, along with their owners, pushing for bans and destruction of those animals, as well.
Now tell me again how HSUS is a “hero” to animals?

Despite legislation HSUS has helped introduce and pass, I am still proud to be a breeder of pedigree cats. I breed healthy, charming, delightful pets, representative of their Tonkinese breed, a breed that goes back to the original recognition of cats as specific breeds (and longer.) Without breeders of pedigree animals, persisting in the face of opposition by such organizations as HSUS, our beautiful cats, dogs, and other pedigree animals bred as pets, or for food, for wool, for other essentials, would become extinct. I also give back to my community by maintaining a “yard of last resort” for intractable feral cats, and I support Trap/Neuter/Return groups, as well as recue groups. I am one of those vocal people who keep in touch with my government reps, and show up at County meeting to voice my concerns when animal legislation is at issue. This is how I do my part to keep animal rights activists from taking over my life- and yours.

These people are disgusting. I’d like to see HSUS shut down!!!!

  • Elizabeth Winchell

    Shame on HSUS!

  • historygeek53

I said, “Unlike a certain organization i help animals find loving homes”
Sharon you are right they are not a hero to animals.

  • Wendy Martin

This is getting more and more known, what they’re up to. Good that they are being exposed for what they are.
