Geoff Handy

Geoff Handy is an Assistant Treasurer of the Humane Society of the United States, and HSUS's Vice President of Media and Online Communications (a position formerly called "Director of eCommunicty"). He also contributed the "Eggless Egg Salad" recipe to HSUS's online all-vegetarian cookbook.

Fundraising Success magazine named him  one of its 2006 “Top Fundraisers Under 40.” He is credited for increasing HSUS's e-mail list from 32,000 (when Wayne Pacelle became CEO in 2003) to over 650,000 by the end of 2006.

Handy delivered a keynote address at the 2010 global online conference of The Resource Alliance, a British fundraising roundtable group. Here's how the event's brochure described it:

Beyond the myth of integrated fundraising: how we combine email, social media and telephones with our 1.3 million supporters

(This directly contradicts HSUS's frequent claim of having "11 million members and constituents."

In 2002, Handy published the handbook Animal Control Management: A Guide for Local Governments. He also supervised the late 2009 re-launch of HSUS's website, fully "monetized" to maximize its fundraising potential.

In a December 2010 interview about end-of-year online fundraising, Handy told a USA Today blogger:

Last year's campaign really touched the donors' hearts, eclipsing all other end-of-year campaigns. We don't load up the campaign with too many facts. We want it to be a very emotional, one-on-one story.

Handy holds a master’s degree in public administration from the George Washington University.
