Sara Amundson is the executive director of the Humane Society Legislative Fund, the lobbying arm of HSUS. Before that she was the legislative director at the Doris Day Animal League.
Speaking at "The Future of Animal Law" conference in 2007, she lobbied for the creation of a US Animal Protection Agency, claiming "we are still at war in this country."
HSLF was founded in 2004 as a 501(c)4 organization to lobby for animal-rights legislation at the state and federal level. On its About Us page, it lists the NRA, American Farm Bureau, the National Pork Producers Council, Safari Club International, and Ringling Bros. as its chief opponents.
